Food Lovers
If you are a food enthusiast, the Azores are rich in delicious cuisine. The fact that it is in the middle of the ocean might whet your appetite.
One of the secrets lies in the happy cows and the fantastic green grass, responsible for the best cheese, milk, and beef. Not to mention the fresh seafood you can find on the various islands.
And, of course, the fantastic fresh fish.
Among the various typical Azorean dishes, your taste buds will love “Cozido das Furnas” (São Miguel). The cheese with pimenta da terra or even the spicy cheese from São Jorge. On the neighboring island of Pico, you can enjoy fantastic red wine. Don’t forget the sweets, like the “Donas Amélias” on Terceira Island.
Budget Travelers
For a long time, the Azores were perceived as an expensive and hard-to-reach travel destination. But everything changed in 2015 when the liberalization of airspace allowed low-cost airlines (EasyJet and Ryanair) to start operating regular flights to São Miguel. Now, it is also possible to travel to Terceira Island with Ryanair.
EasyJet no longer operates flights to the Azores.
For budget travelers, this change made all the difference. It is now possible for many to optimize their trip to the Azores and even visit more than one island.
If you are looking for a travel package that includes flights, accommodation, and car rental, here you can find the most popular ones that we recommend.

But there are summer festivals to suit all tastes, such as:

History and Culture Enthusiasts
The Azores boast a very rich cultural heritage, with many points of interest and activities worthy of being classified as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
This includes the Historic Center of Angra do Heroísmo (Terceira Island) or the Vineyard Culture Landscape on Pico Island.
If you love adventures and exploring shipwrecks and lost treasures (with no guarantees of finding one), consider visiting the Underwater Archaeological Park of Angra do Heroísmo Bay (Terceira) or Caroline (Pico). At the latter, you can visit the wreck of the French ship from 1901.
