The Sweet Black Beer is produced in São Miguel, by the João Melo Abreu Brewery, and you must try this Micaelense specialty. Those who try it say it’s one of the best black beers they’ve ever tasted.
Dona Amélia’s Queijadas
The Dona Amélia’s Queijadas are a traditional sweet produced on the Terceira Island. It received a significant adaptation of a recipe that already existed in the past of this island, called “Bolo das Índias.” It became famous thanks to the spices that were very common at the time, brought by sailors on expeditions from India.

Vale Cheese
The Vale Cheese is not just another cheese. The product was designed to be unique and differentiated from other cheeses in the archipelago. The main ingredients of the cheese are milk from the family’s cows and the mineral-rich sour water from the Furnas valley, a water that is very rich in minerals born from the Furnas Volcano.

São Jorge Species

Sertã Cake
The Sertã Cake is a cake that is quite similar to bread, very traditional in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. Its name comes from the place where it is baked, the sertã, a kind of unglazed clay frying pan. The bread is made with corn flour, water, and salt, and no yeast is used in its recipe. The bread is round, flat, and is eaten hot or cold.

Povoação Fofas
