Raiz Bar, in Ponta Delgada, is an excellent venue

The Raiz Bar, inaugurated in 2016, is located in the historic center of Ponta Delgada on São Miguel. With a privileged view of the Igreja da Matriz and the city gates, this excellent venue, situated on the first floor of a 19th-century house, stands out among the bars throughout the city.

This open space features a bar, a stage for live performances, and a DJ area. It includes two rooms, a mezzanine, and an excellent terrace.

One can also appreciate the vertical garden located behind the bar, which extends to the stairway area.

Some parts of the location and walls on this floor have been repurposed. For example, the bathtub, which belonged to the original house, is now a decorative element in Raiz Bar. Other interesting details include whitewashed interior walls, tables, and benches made from laminated logs, and, of course, a root that spreads along the entrance wall of the bar.

On Fridays and Saturdays, you can enjoy concerts by Portuguese bands of various musical styles: blues, jazz, folk, rock, among others. After the band’s performances, there’s space for dancing with a DJ. It’s a spacious area where you can enjoy the sound, socialize, appreciate the architecture, and take in the view.

Raiz Bar has already become a reference for nightlife in Ponta Delgada. Its architecture and design have been highlighted on the renowned architecture website, ArchDaily.
