Baía and Farol das Contendas, Terceira (Açores), seen from the sky – Simply magnificent images

Contendas: At this location, arguably the most beautiful stretch of coastline on Terceira island in the Açores, everything appeals to the senses while simultaneously inviting contemplation.
Within this area lie the remnants of what was once a Military Fort, and it is also an important sanctuary for the indigenous fauna and flora of Terceira island, thus constituting one of the most significant protected areas in the Açores.

The Contendas lighthouse was established in 1934. It is located at Ponta das Contendas, to the southeast of Terceira Island. The lighthouse tower stands 13 meters tall.
