Vista do Rei

The trail starts at Miradouro da Vista do Rei and descends along the southwest slope of the Cumeeiras das Sete Cidades towards the interior of the parish. For almost the entire walk, the caldera remains in view, with the various lakes and volcanic formations that fill it.

Upon reaching the asphalt road, it’s worth taking a small detour to the left to Miradouro da Lomba do Vasco. From here, the view opens up over the west coast, with the parish of Mosteiros and its islets in the foreground.

Back on the trail, continue to the right along the Estrada Regional, always descending towards Sete Cidades. Watch for the signage and turn left onto a dirt path. At the junction with PR 04 SMI – Mata do Canário/Sete Cidades, take the right path along the Arrebentões trail, heading towards Sete Cidades. This section is steep and slippery, so it’s best to descend carefully along the main path.

Once in the parish of Sete Cidades, take the opportunity to visit the lake margin requalification project and the Casa do Parque. The trail ends in the centre of the parish, next to the Igreja de São Nicolau.
