This circular route starts at the Faial da Terra, near the bus stop. Begin by climbing the paved street and, when you reach the fork, continue straight ahead along an earth path that always follows the left bank of the stream.

As you progress, the vegetation closes in around the trail, dominated by incense tree (Pittosporum undulatum) and acacia (Acacia melanoxylon). Both banks of the stream are dotted with orchards from small family farms, so we ask visitors to refrain from picking fruit along the way.

When you reach a bridge, cross the stream to the other bank and continue climbing until the next fork, where you should turn right towards Salto do Prego. Follow the signage to the waterfall; halfway there, a path on the left connects to PR 11 SMI Ribeira do Faial da Terra. At the waterfall, you can approach the base of the cascade or climb a trail to the upper part of the stream.

The return journey follows the same path, turning right at the second fork, now heading towards Aldeia do Sanguinho. This old village, undergoing restoration, preserves typical houses and small farms, as well as several specimens of sanguinho (Frangula azorica), a plant endemic to the Açores that gave the place its name.

From here you descend along a winding stone-paved path. Be careful on the ground, as it is slippery and quite steep, until you reach the first fork near the stream. All that remains is to descend the street to the initial panel, where the route ends.
