Amora

Amora is a left-hand reef break on the coast of São Miguel, in an uncommon setting: a zone of fishing cabins surrounded by a landscape that is not repeated in other spots on the island. Access is only on foot, with a walk of about 20 minutes, and it is precisely this access that keeps the pico free from crowds. Those who make the journey usually surf with space and tranquility.

The wave breaks over rocky bottom and works best at low tide, with southern swell and northern wind to nordeste. The usual size is between 1 and 2 metres, which makes the pico accessible to various levels: beginners, intermediates and experienced surfers find conditions here to get in the water.

Being a reef, it is worth paying attention to the rocks on entry and exit, especially for those who are just starting out. With the right swell and low tide, Amora’s left-hand break rewards the walk with peaceful sessions in one of the most singular corners of São Miguel.
