Porto Pim Aquarium – Island of Faial

The Porto Pim Aquarium is located on the Island of Faial and is also referred to as the Living Fish Station. It consists of a central tank and two additional sets of tanks where you can find the most popular coastal species of the Azores.

In addition to the tanks, it is also possible to observe and appreciate the exhibition about the Azores Marine Park and view a fantastic film that discusses and shows the deep sea of the continental shelf adjacent to the Azores archipelago.

The building housing the aquarium has a rich history, particularly regarding the cod fishery, and it was also home to the first whaling oil extraction factory.

With a mission to rehabilitate marine animals, raise environmental awareness, and promote knowledge about the biodiversity of the Azores sea, this aquarium is a must-visit spot to add to your travel itinerary on the island of Faial.

• Tuesday to Saturday | holidays: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM | 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM*
• Closed: Sundays | Mondays | January 1 | Carnival Tuesday | Easter Sunday | December 25

From April 1 to October 31

• Tuesday to Sunday | holidays: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM | 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM*
• Closed: Mondays | Easter Sunday

• Guided tours: by prior arrangement with a minimum of 48 hours notice
• Duration of the visit: 60 minutes
• Number of people per visit: 4 – 10

*Last entry 30 minutes before closing
